Class Experience

Are you a fan of animation? Is there an animated movie or series you really want to discuss with somebody but there is no one you know who is into the same genre? You've come to the right place! What's even more exciting than sharing your thoughts about a series you love (or love to hate!) with other people who will become your anime watching friends.

In this social club we'll cover:
- A different movie/episode/theme each week
- Iconic scenes and lines from the anime.
- Exposure to different genres and forms of animated films/series
- Sharing our anime cosplay/art/collection if you would like to share!

Each class will begin with all learners sharing what they thought about the anime. The club will be student-led and based on what the learners want to cover about the anime. I will guide the conversation and have a list of prompts in case the discussion dies down.

The class might also go into other anime that students like or are similar to the selected anime. Recommendations are always welcome! Topics are subjected to change based on what enrolled learners choose.

As this is an ongoing class, learners can subscribe and unsubscribe as they need.
Learning Goals
By being a part of this Anime club, your child will be able to enhance their:

- Social skills: Students can create friendships with others who "get" them and have opportunities throughout the class to let their voices be heard.
- Exposure to diversity: They will be asked to watch movies they might not have thought about trying on their own. The class also consists of conversations of people with different backgrounds, which will influence how they see films.
- Critical thinking skills: Students will be asked to think about certain scenes with a critical eye, helping them understand what the movie was trying to say and do

Parental Guidance
Parental guidance is recommended to see if the film or series is suitable for their learner as some shows might have scary scenes. Some anime will have TV-14 ratings so please note the ratings of each show. This club will not be touching on anything rated higher than TV-14 due to the age group of the learners.
Supply List
Netflix Subscription, and other anime subscriptions like Hulu/Amazon Prime/Crunchyroll and Funimation. The weekly anime will always be chosen from something we all have access to.
