Class Experience

In this lesson, students will learn to
• describe the design, meaning, and purpose of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum as a history museum and living memorial
• understand key events and topics related to the Holocaust
• explain the systematic nature, scope, and consequences of the Holocaust
I have taught about the Holocaust using literature and writing for many years, and have received training and education from the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, and Yad Vashem in Israel to present the content in an age appropriate manner and with appropriate context of the genocide and state of the world at that time.
 2 files available upon enrollment
Please print or access to the 2 hand outs included in the welcome post. A writing instrument will be needed as well.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Confronting the history and legacy of the Holocaust can be upsetting to students. The Holocaust is a complex and difficult topic to learn about, and some learners may be disturbed or upset by the images, artifacts and stories shared during the class.
We will use the US Holocaust Memorial Museum website to virtually tour the exhibits.
