Building confidence in the basics of speaking a foreign language is extremely important, and that is what I will be doing through this class. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Let's Start Speaking Italian is a series of classes that include learning the basics to start speaking some Italian by focusing on grammar. This specific class includes a focus on ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Week 1: Learn how to change from singular nouns to plural nouns (last letter changes and some exceptions) Week 2: Learn how to describe people (how the adjective needs to match the word, masculine or feminine) Week 3: Learn the 7 unique differences in how to bello (beautiful/handsome) and 4 unique ways to say buono (good) based on whom you are describing Week 4: Learn Avere in present tense & 12 avere expressions (to be hungry, to be sleepy, to be thirsty, to be afraid, etc.) Week 5: Review what we have learned Each day we will try to do 10 minutes of a conversation. *Each time, we will review the information from the last lesson. *Students will at times be given a PDF, worksheets, etc. (Homework is optional) *Schedule is subject to change. This course is part of a series, preparing students to start speaking more in Italian. ------------------------------------------ (If you have younger students, I have other Italian classes for them too!). *Also you can request a new time if you need a different time slot. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- This class is mainly for ages 11-16: however, I do sometimes make accommodations for other ages. Message me if this is something you are interested in.
Learning Goals

Parental Guidance
I have some sources listed in the sources section that we might use during class-- such as YouTube videos--and also sources that I may put as links for your student to use based on what they are learning-- YouTube videos, Quizlet games to review, etc.
Students also do not need accounts for YouTube but will need an account for Quizlet if they want to play the games and save their scores which can be rewarding: but they won't use Quizlet during class, only as a review of material learned which is an optional resource (not required to use).
Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from North Carolina State University
In high school, I was only offered Spanish. I believe that taking foreign language classes opens the doors to many opportunities. My love for languages has continued to grow and at university, I took Italian up through Intermediate level. I now give students the opportunity to learn a language that they are interested in and make learning fun. I have even been known to take facts and put them into a tune to help memorize them easier!
