25 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this one-time class, learners will practice writing their name onto a Stegosaurus upward plates for its back, and then organize their name to fit on a paper plate (which will turn into a stegosaurus craft). By using Pre-K & Kindergarten readiness abilities, learners will practice: - Verbally spelling their name - Writing each letter found in their name - Cutting triangle shapes for the upward plates (each triangle equals one letter of your learners name) - Cutting different shapes for the Stegosaurus body - Gluing - and of course coloring! While learners are working on their Stegosaurus, there will be a discussion about our dinosaur. The teacher will call upon students, if they feel comfortable sharing, what they know about dinosaurs. Teacher and learners will discuss the difference between carnivore and herbivore, sizes, abilities, and more! There is no prior knowledge needed for this class, as it will encourage all learners to practice their hand writing and fine motor skills, as well as, letter recognition. Learners are encouraged to wear anything dinosaur related or bring a dinosaur toy to show (although this is not required). ***Prior to class, the teacher will add a Stegosaurus template to the classroom that parents can print and cut out the necessary design for learners. This will allow learners time in class to practice writing their name, coloring, and gluing; versus cutting too much. The teacher will display in the classroom an example of what the Stegosaurus will look like.
Learning Goals
Learners will improve their letter recognition and writing skills of their first name.
