Homework
Students will have all materials used or created in class in order to practice at home. Extension activities will also be included.Assessment
Students are informally assessed by their verbal performance in class. Speaking ability includes speaking without pausing, correct/understandable pronunciation, and response time.Class Experience
Students will learn to discuss greetings, numbers, alphabet, the date, weather, likes, dislikes, hobbies etc. We will create silly stories, ask and answer questions, and play games all in Spanish. I will teach in Spanish with tons of pictures, gestures and some English when necessary. Vocabulary and written notes will be given as homework. My style of teaching involves comprehensible input. This means giving students lots of input (Spanish) that’s comprehensible (that they can understand) as the primary teaching method. I will speak slowly, write out words, use pictures, gestures etc. to make sure students are comprehending the Spanish. When necessary, I will explain the grammar. Also, I will provide homework activities to support the learning in class. I recommend this interactive workbook to record new vocabulary. Learning Goals
Students will be able to understand questions in Spanish consisting of up to 5 words.
Students will be able to respond to Spanish questions with one word with vocabulary help.
Students will be able to use sentence frames to respond to questions in Spanish with up to 5 words.
Students will practice up to 10 new vocabulary words each session.
