Let's Speak French! - Vocabulary Builder

During this series of fun and interactive lessons, children will continue to learn the French language and build their vocabulary through songs, slides, and games and conversations.  
Madame Colleen is a bilingual teacher with over 25 years experience helping young learners gain confidence with a new language. Her teaching style is patient and enthusiastic, with lots of commendation. Her patient, calm, and encouraging  teaching style helps children who are new to foreign language learning feel confident and at ease. A basic understanding of French, or having taken Let's Speak French 1 is required in order to succeed in this class. Each week learners will practice reading, writing, spelling and speaking French. We will go slowly and make sure each concept is grasped. The small class size of each session ensures individual attention for each learner. Vocabulary and grammar concepts will be presented at the beginning of each class. Learners will have an opportunity to use these during games, and conversations during the rest of the class time. Ms. Colleen loves to incorporate songs and humor into her classes to help her learners remember and use what they learn.  Printed materials and/or online games will be provided each week to help reinforce what is learned in class.  This is not a French Immersion class. Instruction is given in English , but learners are encouraged to speak French as much as they can.
Each meeting begins with a welcoming informal chat , followed by a brief review of the previous meeting and then we will move into new material. Vocabulary words will be introduced and then we will play games, read, and have scripted and informal conversations using the new words in context. 


Lesson 1
Ma Maison- My House
Vocabulary words about the rooms in the house and furniture will be introduced. We will also review the members of the family and ER verbs in the present tense.


Lesson 2
Mes Vêtements- My Clothes
We will learn clothing words and use them as we choose outfits to wear on different days and at different times. We will need to be prepared for any type of weather. Weather expressions  and seasons will be reviewed.


Lesson 3
Mon école- My School
This lesson will include vocabulary words about the people and places in a school. We will also learn words for school supplies and have a scavenger hunt. The verbe avoir in the present tense (to have)  will be reviewed.


Lesson 4
Mon Voisinage- My Neighbourhood
We will take a virtual field trip through a typical neighbourhood and learn the words for the places we see and the people we meet. We will review masculine and feminine adjectives.
