In this exciting ongoing class, we will meet once per week and sketch the many and varied things that we see and 'feel' in our treasured world around us. We will sketch animals and their habitats, scenes such as the beach, mountains, etc., and nature to extend to flowers, trees, plant varieties, and so much more! We will apply basic drawing techniques such as shading, adding weight to provide depth and dimension, and texture studies to help imply the 'feel' of our focused sketch. Throughout our courses, we will add art concepts such as perspective, value, tone, gradient, color studies, and mood, just to name a few. We will meet our Elements of Art and Art Principles by exposure, but each is not intended as its own depth of study. Exposure and relevance to our projects of focus will lead discussion. This class is for exposure, appreciation, and exploration of all chosen topics to draw, as well as application of sketching tips and techniques as we share and learn together. Classes will vary throughout the month to range in scope as anything from an animal focus, a habitat or landscape focus, a specific nature focus, or possibly a focus where we can apply a key drawing tip or technique, etc. Month 1 and 2 breakdown of focus areas... Week 1/March 6th-12th let's sketch an octopus! Week 2/ March 13th-19th let's sketch a waterfall! Week 3/Class 1- March 20-26 we will explore and sketch an animal from the bird category. Week 4/Class 2 -March 27-April 2 we will explore and sketch some sea treasures found on the beach, such as shells and starfish. Week 5/Class 3 -April 3-9 we will explore and sketch some common springtime flowers. Week 6/Class 4 -April 10-16 we will explore and sketch a variety of common building materials to bring texture alive to key elements in our drawings that may be made of wood, brick, stone, etc. Some future classes to encompass, animal friends from all species and classifications, nature scenes and elements such as trees, bushes, pinecones and seeds, habitats and landscapes of rivers, forests, mountains, deserts, water, earth and fire, foods and meal offerings from around the world as well as famous architecture, and so much more! From apples to sandcastles to the Great Wall of China! This class is for the learner who needs variety and enjoys exploring about many different things, although each in the artistic realm for our purpose. Each class will have some basic information about what is being highlighted, whether it is basic anatomy of an animal, classification and attributes for a particular landscape, or characteristics of a famous place, etc. This class will engage the learner and help provide a greater appreciation of the details and beauty in our world around us. Looking at the world through the artist's eyes enables compassion and connection. Learners are encouraged to share their creations and will receive only positive and encouraging feedback and support. Art is not to be critiqued but appreciated. I am here as a facilitator to help open the eyes of your children to see the many facets of those things that may often be taken for granted. Learners of all ability levels are welcome, as instruction will be basic enough as to not overwhelm, yet the experienced artist may challenge themselves to take their artistry further based upon personal abilities and prior knowledge.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Massachusetts Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Framingham State College
Hello! My name is Chantal Drezek. I graduated many years ago, from Framingham State University in Massachusetts and taught the second grade. I have also tutored many multiple age/ability levels and have had many successful and wonderful experiences with students integrated through our advanced ESL program. Math was my minor and love in college, along with Art study. These topics would be my primary focus and strength to share, although I welcome many more opportunities as well. I currently teach online to China and adore the students that I have been blessed to connect with! I love watching children making connections to the world around them and watching them take pride in their accomplishments. I am blessed to experience this daily with my own 5 children, throughout our personal life experiences and our homeschool academic journey, as they approach each day with new wonder and enthusiasm. I can't wait to work with you and your child(ren) through Outschool and provide them quality learning, respect, encouragement, and a renewed interest in the world around them! Thank you for the opportunity to help your child thrive and grow in both success and confidence!
