Class Experience

Students will learn how to set a proper place setting, which allows them set a proper table setting. They will learn what everything on the place setting is for and how to properly maneuver it. Students learn proper table manners on what to do and not do while dining. These are skills they can use for a lifetime.
Dining is something everyone does everyday, therefore, everyone at every age should know how to set a proper place setting, how to use it correctly as well as demonstrate good table manners while dining. Table manners are something you use daily weather good manner or poor manners. Knowing the rules of good table manners is a skill you will use for a lifetime. Good manners will help to prevent you from embarrassing yourself and others while dining. I am a certified etiquette coach specializing in dining etiquette. I teach classes to children and adults. Most adults agree they wish they had learned better manners at a younger age to be better prepared in social skills.
We encourage that the student's parent or guardian allows the student to set the table each night for repetition and retention. The table setting should be based on whatever meal is being served.

Students will need the following items to prepare a place setting: One each: Dinner plate, soup bowl, small bread plate, fork, knife, spoon, napkin and a glass. (A small butter knife if available but not necessary.) The dishes do not have to match in pattern. Everyday items are fine as this is for learning. A place setting diagram has been provided. Please print the diagram prior to class and have it ready with a pen or pencil for writing if needed.
