SUBMIT A CLASS REQUEST OR CONTACT JESSIE TO COORDINATE ENROLLMENT IN THIS PRIVATE CLASS. It can be hard to find someone to run lines with - let an expert help! Jessie will secure a copy of the script (at no additional cost to you) and "run lines" with young actors until they have mastered their words for an upcoming performance. This learner-led, one-on-one class will meet for 30 minutes each session and focus on memorization techniques, word definition, and limited dramaturgy to understand...
This class is taught in English.
Students will increase their memorization techniques and skills, thereby decreasing the time it takes to memorize lines for a play.
I hold a BA in Performing and Visual Arts with a focus in Early British Drama and Shakespeare and have won several awards for my work in this field. I have spent over 20 years studying and producing the works of Shakespeare and his contemporaries. I teach the Folger Method for learning the classics and am a member of the Folger Shakespeare Library. Beyond those credentials, I have spent countless hours helping friends, students, and colleagues memorize their lines for plays. Within my graduate program I focused on gamification of learning and found a passion for memorization tactics that allow an actor to continue to produce great shows with minimal stress.
No homework will be assigned - this class is meant to support the learners' participation in theatrical productions. This should be considered a "homework helper" class for students who are currently preparing for productions or auditions.
No assessment is necessary; however, memorization and understanding of lines in a play should be an outcome goal
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
