The ukulele is a fun, popular instrument that is also a great beginner instrument for children. This two week class for beginners will get them started on the right foot. No experience is necessary! By the end of the class, students will be able to: -correctly tune the ukulele and name each string -strum using down and up strokes -play new notes on each string by fretting -play known melodies -correctly read a chord chart -play at least seven chords -understand tablature -play a chord...
1 file available upon enrollment1 ukulele. (Soprano sized ukuleles are recommended for children with smaller hands. Concert, and tenor sized ukuleles are usually manageable around age 10. Kala makes one in many fun colors for $35 that I have used with students for years. Note: When choosing, plastic ukuleles are cheaper and more durable, but wooden ones usually sound more natural and are easier to play.) 1 clip on tuner for ukulele or guitar. $12 (There are also free websites that will let you hear the right pitches to tune the strings, however the student should still have a tuner they can use offline and for class.)
3 hours per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
