Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
This class will prepare students for the Global History II New York State Regents exam on June 18, 2024. We will cover the major topics and themes from the curriculum, including the French Revolution, the Industrial Revolution, and both World Wars. Students will view content based slideshows for note taking and to provide historical examples. We will also work with primary and secondary sources that may appear on the test.

We will combine content based instruction with historical thinking skills practice and students will complete activities using sources found on past Regents exams.

Students will view content based slideshows that incorporate visuals such as maps, visuals, and quotes. We will transition into a source based activity and discussion to provide evidence that can be used on the written portion of the test, as well as serve as possible stimuli on the multiple choice section. Activities will utilize familiar and effective applications such as Kahoot and Padlet to increase student engagement while maintaining high academic standards.

Students will also become reacquainted with each part of the exam. Each session will end with multiple choice question practice. Throughout the course we will utilize the skills necessary for successful completion of the CRQ section, including context, point of view, purpose, cause and effect, and more. Lastly, we will have a session dedicated solely to the Enduring Issues essay and how to properly format their work.
