Description
Class Experience
Students will improve their acting, vocal ability, and movement skills. They will learn how to be a supportive team player, learn audience etiquette, gain confidence, and improve the communication skills.
Our show directors have 25+ years of experiencing directing youth and professional productions. Our acting, dance, and voice instructors have between 6-30+ years of vocal and acting training, professional musical theatre experience, and/or a BFA, BA, or MA in Music, Musical Theatre, or the Performing Arts. They have teaching experience in after school programs, theatre schools, public schools, universities, conservatories, and regional theatre programs.
Cast members can expect to spend time outside of class learning lines, rehearsing songs, rehearsing choreography, and preparing materials needed for their rehearsals of Dear Edwina.
Please print and bring a copy of your script, a highlighter, something to write with, a water bottle, and a second device for music. All printable materials are provided by Northwest Theatre and will be available in the online classroom 6-days before class begins.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
A written assessment is available upon request.
3 hours per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
During the class rehearsals and performance, cast members will need to be in a relatively noise-free space, where they can sing at full voice and perform any choreography full out. Pets, television shows, and siblings are all great, but sadly background noise and distractions hinder an effective rehearsal process. Cast members are encouraged to wear clothing that is easy and comfortable to move in and a flexible tennis shoe or sneaker. Please print and bring a copy of your script, a highlighter, something to write with, a water bottle, and a second device for music. Younger students may need assistance during the first week of class operating Zoom features such as turning their microphone and camera on and off during the session. Students should feel comfortable being on camera for this course as it is a visual performing arts class and will require all students to be visible on-screen at times during the rehearsal and performance process.
