Knowing and understanding the parts of speech is the first step to learning how to correctly write sentences and spot structure errors. In this multi-day course, students will learn to identify 9 parts of speech. This is an introductory class and no prior knowledge of parts of speech is required. After each class, there will be a practice worksheet to complete and bring to the next class for review. Class will be interactive and we will learn by songs, illustrations, and example sentences. We will meet for a total of six times over the course of three weeks for this class. Each class agenda is broken down below: class 1: nouns and pronouns class 2: adjectives class 3: verbs and adverbs class 4: conjunctions and interjections class 5: articles class 6: prepositions
Learning Goals
Students will be able to identify each part of speech after class. They will understand how to build a sentence and what words to correctly use in their own writing.

A little bit about me:
I earned my bachelor’s degree in English and journalism at Eastern Illinois University in 2013. I have been working as an online ESL teacher for the past two years and also have about seven years experience working in a traditional classroom setting from preschool all the way up through high school.
My passion is teaching and encouraging kids to love reading! My style of teaching is very patient, laid-back and calm. I feel this gives my students a sense of security and they feel safe to learn (and make mistakes) in my classroom.
When I'm not teaching, I'm usually spending time with my husband and young son, exploring our home state of Idaho, or reading a book (of course!).
