In this course, students will learn how to build and read short vowel sounds. Students will participate in doing fun movements by playing games out of letter sounds and sentences. Students will be getting students hands-on, experimenting, and having fun with their learning is what makes them remember and recall what they've learned. This class aims to keep them engaged by having fun, as this is when real learning happens. I will be using a whiteboard to build short vowel words and share my screen for a fun game for students to do at the end of the lesson.
Learning Goals
The students will able to determine the difference between the vowels and learn how we can build different words using the same vowels.

Teacher expertise and credentials
My name is Melissa and I live in Houston, Texas. I have my bachelor's degree in Urban Education in early childhood. I have taught Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade. I taught in the public education system in the Houston area for 7 years. I am passionate about teaching language arts (writing and reading), and math to children 4-7 years old.
As a teacher, I believe it is my duty to make learning fun, easy-going, and stress-free. I love having fun in the classroom and getting to know my students. Being able to share my knowledge and experiences with future generations is one of the things I love the most about teaching, making sure the next generations succeed and do better.
I look forward to having you in my class! See you soon!

MY POLICIES
Classroom Expectations:
*Cameras: Students are required to "check-in" by turning on their cameras at the start of class. This is to ensure your child's safety and privacy - only the registered learner(s) aged 3-18 are permitted in class (young children may have a helper off to the side). **Personalized tutoring available upon request**
*Siblings: Outschool registration is per learner, not per family, and only registered learners are permitted in class. If you would like to discuss a sibling discount, make sure you reach out to me before class begins.
*Distractions: While I enjoy getting to know your student's personality and sense of humor, behavior that prevents other students from learning is not acceptable in class. Please remind your child to use good online etiquette so that the whole group can learn.
*Class Length: Posted class lengths are approximate and may vary by up to 5 minutes based on the number of learners enrolled and how vocal the group is. I will always aim to end class at the published time.
Absences:
*Recordings: All classes are recorded and will be available in the Classroom tab following the class meeting. These videos are only made available to registered students.
*Transfers: If space permits and at my discretion, your learner can be transferred to another section of the same class.
*Refunds: Students who miss class are not entitled to a refund. Please review the class recording or request a transfer if you are unable to attend your class.
Refunds:
*Outschool Refund Policies: Refund policies vary by class type. These policies can be located in the enrollment pop-up. When you withdraw your learner, the relevant policy will be automatically applied. Search "Outschool Happiness Guarantee" for more information.
