US Grade 2 - 3
In this one time class, students will be practicing their ability to identify fractions. We will be utilizing a variety of fun and interactive strategies, such as: body movement as we form symbols with our arms to determine if two fractions are greater than, less than, or equal to one another, show me cards, and visual representations. What we will be covering in this class: - How to identify fractions using representations (i.e - how many pieces of the pie are shaded? how many pieces of pie are there in total? What would our fraction be?) - How to determine if two fractions are less than, equal to, or greater than one another - How to create your own fraction when given a word description - How to identify the numerator and the denominator of given fractions We will be viewing fun and interactive slides through a powerpoint presentation throughout this class. ( This class is designed for 2nd grade learners as well as for third grade learners needing additional practice with fractions! )
Learning Goals
Students will become stronger in their knowledge on fractions. This class will help students build up their foundational understanding of fractions, by diving deeper into the basics of fractions and focusing on the 2nd grade mathematical standards.
