In this 6-day course, students will learn what blends are, learn several different 2-consonant and 3-consonant blends, and practice reading and writing words with initial consonant blends.

Does your child need practice reading words with blends - words like "trip," "sled," and "splash"? If so, this course is for them! In this 6-day course, students will learn and practice using initial 2- and 3-consonant blends. The schedule is as follows: Day 1 - W Blends Day 2 - L Blends Day 3 - R Blends Day 4 - S Blends Day 5 - 3-Consonant Blends Day 6 - Consonant Blends Review We will start our course by reviewing letter sounds and what consonants are. Students will then be introduced to consonant blends. On Days 1-5, they will learn several initial consonant blends, sing songs about blends, read and write words that begin with consonant blends, listen to words and identify which blend they hear, and sort words based on the correct blends. On Day 6, we will play a fun game to review the consonant blends learned throughout the course. This course is recommended for students in First Grade; however it can also be used to introduce blends to Kindergarteners or to review blends with students in older grades who may need extra practice. Students should already know their letter sounds and be able to read simple CVC words before taking this course.
Learning Goals
Students will blend 2 and 3 consonant sounds together.
They will read and write words with initial consonant blends.
They will identify the correct blend they hear in words.
