Pokemon Trainers! If you're looking for a way to spice up your BRAND NEW Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl adventure while making new friends at the same time, you've come to the right place. In this ongoing club, learners will use their critical thinking skills and Pokemon knowledge to work together with the teacher in our own private Nuzlocke challenge! What is a Nuzlocke challenge? Simply put, it's a set of rules created to make a Pokemon journey more challenging. According to its original creators, there are only two big rules to the challenge: - Any Pokemon that faints is considered finished for the rest of the game, and must be released or put in storage permanently. - Players may only catch the first wild Pokemon encountered in each area, and none else. If the first wild Pokémon encountered faints or flees, there are no second chances. It's a difficult challenge, but it's one we can all work together to overcome! The best part is: NO game is required on the learners' part. Because Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl is a newly-released game, this is a good opportunity for learners to become familiar with it even before they have a copy of the game for themselves! Using game capture software, the teacher will stream the game on-screen to the class over the live meeting, so everyone can take part in the process together and freely socialize without distraction! Working together to become the Sinnoh League Champion together will provide learners with an opportunity to share their favorite Pokemon tips and tricks, utilize their problem-solving skills in a fun way, and make some like-minded friends in the process.
Learning Goals
Although this is more like an after-school club than an academic class, students will still inevitably strengthen their social skills, critical thinking skills, and the use of their imagination, all while making new friends with similar interests!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello everyone, I'm Amber! I'm currently living on the US East Coast after spending a few years teaching and living in Seoul, South Korea, and I'm super excited to get to know all of you!
I truly believe with all my heart that students learn best when they're learning in the context of the things they love and are interested in. For that reason, most of (if not all!) of my classes incorporate the topics that your learners already love! I teach deep dives into video game lore and analysis, social clubs that run the gamut from Kingdom Hearts (my favorite!) to Kpop (my other favorite!), as well as ongoing Quiz Bowl classes based around various fun subjects.
More academically, my background is in Musical Theatre Direction. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from a liberal arts university, and really hold the values of that program close to my heart. Prior to living in Seoul, I spent several years working in NYC as a theatre professional and Broadway enthusiast, and would love instilling that same passion for the arts into your bright-eyed learners as well!
I taught English as a second language in a couple of private academies in Korea, with students along the entire K-12 spectrum. I have experience building and developing my own curricula, as well as connecting with a wide range of students from varying cultural backgrounds. Until choosing to relocate back home this fall, I taught full-time on Zoom for all of 2020, so I feel very comfortable with the platform and always work hard to give students a quality learning experience even in such new, strange times.
Please do take a look at my class offerings if you have any interest! Additionally, feel free to reach out to me if you have any additional questions or if you'd like to request a class time for your learner!
