"Join your crewmates in a multiplayer game of teamwork and betrayal!" says the official description for the popular game Among Us. In this ongoing class, the learners and the teacher will play together in a locked, private server to ensure safety and fun for everyone involved. But what is Among Us, really? Among Us is a space-themed murder mystery game with cute, cartoony graphics. Each student plays as an astronaut crewmate on a spaceship, trying to do space-related tasks and return back to...
Learners will improve their deduction, problem-solving, debate, and critical thinking skills as they try to figure out who the impostors are for each game round. They will also be able to improve interpersonal social skills by socializing in a safe, private environment with their peers!
Every student will need to have the Among Us game downloaded on a device. For smartphones and tablets, the game is FREE in the Android/Apple app store. Learners may also choose to play on their PC; however, please note that the game is not free to play on the computer.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
As Among Us is a murder mystery game, it depicts some cartoon violence, which is not graphic in nature. Among Us also involves playful deception in its gameplay. Especially sensitive learners and their parents should be aware that they may be accused of being the impostor even if they're not. We don't want to hurt anyone's feelings; that's just the playful nature of the game. :)
