In this ongoing course, we will log-in together to play Roblox as a safe community of gamers, allowing us to chat and play together without worrying about a global chat option. Each week, I will list the selected games for the week in the classroom before our meeting time, so everyone is aware what we will be playing. I am always open to suggestions from learners for games (I LOVE new ideas!), but will look into the game before class time to determine if it is appropriate for class and works with our format (proper server size for our number of students, good interaction, etc). Games with excessive gun violence, blood, or horror themes are generally deemed inappropriate for the classroom setting and will be avoided. Social clubs offer kids the opportunity to meet like-minded kids that get excited about the same types of things. Discussion will be moderated and limited to game-appropriate content. Give your kids a safe space to meet fellow gamers!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have a degree in Spanish Education (K-12) with a current teaching license in the state of Oklahoma. I have always enjoyed exploring new languages and cultures. I have studied six foreign languages to varying degrees and have a passion to share an appreciation for other cultures and their languages with children.
I have been teaching since 2006 in a variety of settings, including public school, small private classes, homeschool and online tutoring. My own four children - ranging in ages from 6-12 years old - have given me plenty of experience with teaching children and keeping them engaged and excited about the world around them.
I have traveled to eight foreign countries on four different continents and have even taken my oldest daughter to four of those countries! In our home, we strive to look at life through a global lens, which I feel provides important perspective on appreciating the views of others.
I believe learning should be engaging, cooperative, and sometimes a little silly. Learning a new language requires vulnerability, space to make mistakes and a lot of encouragement. It gives us the opportunity to be child-like in our approach to being a beginner while also giving us the tools to eventually have real-life conversations in someone else's native tongue.
Communication isn't just about letters and sounds - it's about understanding someone else. Language is the biggest stepping stone to truly open communication with other cultures. Let's learn together!
