Class Experience

Are you a fan of Brookhaven on Roblox? If so, come and share this fun in this lively, social class, suitable for beginners and learners with special needs. All are welcome!

Brookhaven is a fun Roblox town where you can choose a house, job and car, meet others and role play together in the zoom!

We will meet up in a teacher hosted, private server - where we can safely make friends, role play and learn the ropes of the game in a moderated session. My class size is a maximum of 6 as I may need to help participants understand the game and how to explore it.

This is a ongoing, weekly class, but you can join at any point, and stop and start as your schedule permits. Whether you're new to the game or not, you're welcome to join and share in the fun.

This class will be learner led, and the class will have a relaxed format with an informal structure. The emphasis will be on building friendships with others with a shared interests and sharing tips and ideas about the game. It's an opportunity to build on social skills and to practice speaking (non verbal students welcome) and listening to others. I am not a bystander, and will be immersed in the game with the learners throughout.

Please note, this class may be chatty and lively, with limited muting of students - though I do moderate, to ensure quieter voices are heard, and teach that we must listen to others as well as speak.

Brookhaven has a huge range of role play options built into the game. I will encourage and lead games such as camping, school, sleepovers, space travel and family life. However this game contains items such as dynamite (the town bank can be exploded and robbed) military bases, costumes and weapons (the weapons cannot be used to harm other players). it also contains ghostbusting and criminal outfits and job roles, and some haunted and spooky areas on the map. I will discourage overly violent role play games, but be aware these are elements built into this particular game.
Learning Goals

Parental Guidance
The website Common Sense Media rated Roblox age 13. This is largely due to the unmoderated nature of the games, and the ability to chat. This class will include gameplay in a private neighborhood, with only the other class participants, so this is a safer way to interact with the game. The participants will need to become an in-game friend with the teacher for the duration of the class. Their in game user name will be visible to other students, but they will not be required to be in-game friends with them. Please Note: Brookhaven has many in-built features like military costumes, weapons, dynamite, spooky hospital, graveyard etc that some children/parents may find upsetting. I don't encourage violent roleplays, but these features are built into this particular game and may sometimes make an appearance.
Supply List
Learners will need to access the zoom classroom and have access to Roblox and the free Roblox game Brookhaven. Please ensure your child has a Roblox account before class.
