In this class, students will have the opportunity to learn the first three notes on the recorder: B-A-G! You will be amazed at all the songs you can play using only these notes! We will focus on good technique and tone. Students will learn to care for their instruments. While students are having fun learning an instrument, they will also be learning music theory and notation. Students will read music and develop good rhythm. Learning to read music is a skill students will be able to learn throughout their entire life! We will work at the students pace during this 6 class course. Each class, the students will use have the opportunity to play along with songs they may already know, including "The Nutcracker March," "Twist and Shout," "Long Legged Sailor," and "Mary Had a Little Lamb." #creative No prior knowledge is required. Students will need their own recorder.

Supply List
Students will need a good student quality soprano recorder with Baroque fingerings. Please email me if you are unsure if your recorder is okay for this class. Students should also have something they can comfortable put on their wrist, such as a bracelet or hair band. Please print the resources that go with this course.

I have been teaching for over 15 years. I graduated from Southern Utah University with my degree in Music Education in 2003. Starting in 2004, I taught private voice and piano lessons to students. In 2014, I began teaching music at a local elementary school.
In my classroom, I have taught singing, rhythm games, recorder, ukulele, music theory and how to write your own song! I love sharing my love of music with my students.
I also enjoy musical theater. I have done several communtiy theater productions. I have been privileged to play the roles of Mrs. Potts in "Beauty and the Beast," Jack's Mother in "Into the Woods," Mabel in "The Pirates of Penzance," and Kim in "Bye, Bye BIrdie."
I love to listen to rock and roll on the radio. My favorite music group is The Beatles!
In 2017, I began tutoring ESL students in the basics of English grammar, reading, and conversation. I love working with young people from all around the world.
