Description
Class Experience
Students will work to master the notes B, A, G, C, and D. As they learn to finger the notes on the recorder, they will also learn to read music on a musical staff and identify note values.
I am a public school general music teacher and flutist turned stay-at-home mom and homeschool teacher! Recorder classes are a virtual offering of classes I have taught in the public school music class setting.
It is suggested that students practice what they have learned in class for 10 minutes a day. This will ensure a positive class experience. Students are encouraged to play calmly, without overblowing. (I know families appreciate this!)
Students will need a soprano recorder to participate in this course. If you do not own a soprano recorder, it can be purchased on Amazon. If you need assistance purchasing, please send me a message!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students may be asked to play individually at times during class. I am also able to see if they are playing with the correct fingerings by watching their hand position. If a student is struggling, they may be asked to complete another Level 1 course before moving to Level 2. If the student is working hard in class and practicing, this is not likely to happen, but in the event that it does, it should not be viewed as a failure, but as a path to ensure success and avoid frustration.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
