In each meeting of this one-on-one ongoing class, learners with 1-2 years experience will sight-read piano pieces and practice performance skills.

Class experience

This private ongoing class provides a great platform to sight-read new piano pieces, review level appropriate music reading and notation and practice piano techniques. Learners should already have 1-2 years of piano experience. Please see below for more information. By the end of each class learners will be able to play a new piano piece confidently and with accurate technique! Because of the one-on -one format, learners will receive an abundance of personalized feedback.

I use the Piano Adventures Performance Level 2A book in this class. Learners must have their own copy of this curriculum book. The dates and topics listed below are suggestions. We will begin with the first piece in the learner's first class.

Material used in this course is composed, arranged, and written by Nancy and Randall Faber. Copyright © Faber Piano Adventures, Inc. Used with permission.

PLEASE NOTE:
This is a sight-reading and performance based class. In order to get the most out of these classes, learners should already have 1-2 years of piano experience. They should have a solid understanding and working knowledge of the notes of C, Middle C, G, D & A positions (and C, G, D & A minor chords) both on the piano and on the bass and treble clefs, finger numbers, measures, the grand staff, quarter, half, dotted-half, whole notes, eighth notes and respective rests, 4/4 & 3/4 time, steps, skips, 4ths, 5ths, slurs & staccato, ties, repeat signs, playing octaves above and below, sharp and flat symbols, forte/mezzo forte/piano dynamic levels, basic transposition and phrasing concepts.

Learners should be set up at a piano, acoustic or electric, in such a way that I can hear them well and see their keyboard.

The following are the topics we will learn each week.

It would be greatly appreciated if a parent/guardian could be available off-camera for at least the 1st few minutes of class to assist with technology, if needed.

I aim to make learners feel as comfortable and welcome as possible freeing up time for parents/guardians.
