Do you remember how we learned to read or understand math as children? It wasn't just from going to school and doing math homework or reading levelled readers. We played games! Snakes and ladders, Monopoly, Game of Life, etc. All these helped us with number sense and reading, and they were fun! So why can't piano theory be like that? It can!!

Any piano student with a few months to a few years of experience playing piano who struggles to do written theory homework, has difficulty reading music, as well as any kid who likes playing games! This camp will be mostly focussed on reading on the Grand Staff, something a lot of students struggle with. If you'd like a games class that focusses on more topics, please check out my ongoing piano games class here: https://outschool.com/classes/piano-games-beginner-music-theory-IyGf2akB?usid=ZbLGGmqK&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link

This class is neurodiversity affirming with multiple levels for most games. So students with more experience will get to play with more challenging questions than a student who just started learning. Small class size of 4 students ensures every child gets multiple turns to participate.

Each class will start with an introduction of our topic for that day through screen share and/or a demonstration on the piano. Students may be encouraged to annotate on the screen. Then I will introduce our game and the rules, and we play!

👉 Day 1: Reading by Steps and Skips on the piano and staff
👉 Day 2: Landmark Notes and All Notes on the Grand Staff
👉 Day 3: Sharps, Flats and Natural Signs
👉 Day 4: Reading Intervals

Hi, I'm Nefeli!

I'm a certified Online Music Teacher with with a BA in Psychology and a special interest in music and how we learn.

I've been teaching piano for over 20 years, as well as tutoring high school math and study skills. I'm a relationship first teacher which means I take time to get to know my students and find out how they learn and what their strengths and challenges are. I always focus on strengths first to build confidence and a love of music!

I am neurodiversity affirming which means that no matter your ability or disability, you will have access to high quality music education and that no matter your neurotype, you are welcome to be yourself. You can stim, you can play with your fidgets or doodle, you can turn off your camera, you can type your answers in the chat if that is your preference.

I have a variety of classes to suit your needs, including
- Just Games! (Fun way to reinforce theory)
- Camps
- No practice group classes
- master workshops on various topics (such as emotions and music, performance anxiety, rhythm, composers)
- 1:1 lessons
- 20 minute focussed practice sessions
- and more!

Fun facts about me:
 1. I call myself the Neurodivergent Piano Teacher because it's easier than saying "I'm autistic and have ADHD and bipolar and executive dysfunction and prosopagnosia and aphantasia and anxiety and I teach piano" 😅.
2. I have been bellydancing for many years and have recently started learning ballet. While I love middle Eastern music, I have to admit that the piano music during ballet class really makes my soul happy.
