Welcome to the one of the first Palworld clubs on Outschool! If you like Pokemon, Digimon, cute critters, or Zelda, you're going to love Palworld! Learners may either opt to play together in a teacher-hosted cooperative privately served (PC) world, or just hang out and chat about the game. Xbox players are welcome to join and chat, too! Cooperative PC game play experience may include: * Character creation * Strategies for achieving game goals * Sharing progress, tips, tricks and questions with others * Using teamwork - often in separate but complementary roles * Working cooperatively for the greater good * Defeating bosses and capturing pals The bulk of class will be learners playing the game together in a shared experience, but may also include learner-led conversations on all aspects of the game: capture, battle, exploration, gardening, mining, foraging, crafting, base building, combat, raids, and boss fights. ---- Classes full or don't see a time that works for you? Please message me, and let's see what we can do! ---- Since much of this class is about meeting together to play cooperatively, co-op players will need to use teamwork to accomplish common goals and purposes. Learners are asked to give at least as much as they take. Player vs. player (PvP) sparring is a part of the game, but should be mutually agreed to before attacking another player. Learners who use up excessive resources, destroy or remove items, take others' items, unleash enemies in inappropriate places, attack other players without consent, and otherwise intentionally work against the common good or goals (i.e. "griefing") may be removed from the session or the class after verbal warning. **This sever is hosted on PC, which currently (week one of early access play) only supports up to four PC players at a time in multiplayer mode. Xbox players and more than four learners are welcome to also join the class, chat, and play on their own devices, but may not be able to join the teacher-hosted multiplayer in-game experience until cross-platform play is enabled. As soon as servers are stabilized and cross-play enabled, this description will be updated and larger class sizes can be accommodated.** ** Please note that this class may contain spoilers as learners will be in different stages of game play. **
Learning Goals
Students will extend their love of gaming into also practicing social skills, discussion, teamwork, and vicariously learning real-life takeaways through shared experiences in the Palworld video game.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Remember to have the game downloaded and ready to go, making sure to charge any devices needed to play during class. As of January, 2024, Palworld is in early access, and not cross-platform multiplayer yet. The class server is hosted on PC (computer). Xbox players are welcome to attend, but may not be able to play in the class server until cross-platform function is updated.
Learners should be able to join via session code, but may have to share their Steam user IDs with the teacher (as part of troubleshooting) in order to join the class server. They may also want to share user IDs with other learners in order to play outside of class time. Please talk to your learner about Internet safety protocols and when it is appropriate to share personal information.
Supply List
Learners need to have their own copy of Palworld, the game. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1623730/Palworld

Teacher expertise and credentials
A long-time gamer, I've got more than 130 hours in Palworld, playing since the first week of early access. As of July, 2024, I am level 48, have three bases, and my current mount is a Suzaku. I look forward to leveling up even more and advising as much as I can, guiding learners through co-op play as the game continues to be developed and change.
