Class Experience
My one on one classes are structured very differently than traditional group classes. Since these are one on one classes, curriculum varies for each student in each lesson. Each class is structured around each individual learner's experience. For guitar students, will cover many different aspects of learning guitar such as chords, chord extensions, different strumming patterns, scales, and other foundations of basic guitar theory. Students will even learn how to read musical notation on guitar. Students will learn how to use these techniques in practical every day songs. Violin students will learn correct violin and bow posture. They will learn to read musical notation, different scales, arpeggios, different bowing techniques, different positions, and much more. One of the primary goals of the class is to help each student learn to play some of their favorite songs. There is constant interaction between the student and the teacher throughout the class. I use the first few minutes of each class to gauge the student's experience and interests in guitar or violin. I love to know about songs that the student desires to learn. We will discuss the process of how we can add those songs to the students repertoire. We will build on what the student already knows and continue to expand their musical abilities week to week. There is no particular experience required for these lessons. I will evaluate each student on what they already know during our first lesson, and we will continue to build on what techniques they already know. The age range for this class says 9-14, but this class can be tailored for all ages. Brand new students are certainly welcome. Bring your guitar or violin and let's have fun.
