In Let's Play Doctor, we will learn about the body through play. Each week will have a different theme and medical mystery: Week 1 Why is my tummy upset? (Digestive System) Week 2 What is that sound? (Ears and Sound) Week 3 Ew, that tastes funny! (Taste and Smell) Week 4 Oh no! I fell off my bike. (Scrapes and Cuts) Week 5 Ouch! Why does my arm hurt? (Bones and Muscles) Week 6 Why do we sleep? (Rest and Immune System) Week 7 Yay, the dentist! (Teeth and Oral Health) Week 8 What is that thumping sound? (Heart) Week 9 Oh, no! I have to go! (Kidneys and Bladder) Week 10 Why do I need glasses? (Eyes) Week 11 What are allergies? (Allergies) Week 12 I don't feel so well. (Viruses - Flu) Week 13 Why did my dinner make me sick? (Foodborne Illness) Week 14 Why is my skin sore? (Sunburn) Week 15 Ouch, what was that? (Bug Bites and Stings) Each week, our patients will have silly questions about their bodies, and we will try to help them figure out why their bodies behave in specific ways! We will learn about body systems, health, and how to take care of simple issues like basic first-aid or overeating through play. This is intended to be more play-based to encourage students. It is not meant to be an overarching curriculum. Classes will take a break over the summer but resume in the fall.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about parts of the body and what they do at a fundamental level.
This is a play-based class, it is not meant to supplement detailed education, but it is intended to meet the level of preschoolers. If you are looking for something in-depth, this is not it.
