Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
This class will help children deepen their understanding of subtraction and practice subtracting large numbers.

We will quickly review the basics of place value and then look at two and three digit subtraction, both with and without borrowing. We will also cover mental and written strategies for subtraction.

After a quick icebreaker, we will complete a number of activities to communicate these concepts. Class will be conversational, upbeat, and as visual and hands on as possible. Students will be encouraged to interact throughout the class, contributing to the discussion, actively working problems, and sharing their thought processes.

Learning Goals

Learners will review place value and apply its meaning to subtraction.
Learners will understand that when we 'borrow', we are borrowing a whole group of ten, hundred, etc.
