US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
Join me in this one time interactive class. Your child will learn to identify the parts of a book, sequencing, and we will practice prepositions while listening to the popular story, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt By Michael Rosen. During this class, your child will review the parts of a book. Next, I will read the story to the students, who will be encouraged to read the repetitive parts of the story along with me! After the story, we will create a map of the settings from the book and use our sequencing skills to retell the story as a class! I look forward to seeing your child in my virtual classroom! ***An adult helper is highly encouraged for this craft especially for younger learners!
Learning Goals
Learners will improve their pre-reading skills through repetition of phrases and sentences throughout the story, as well as through concepts of print by identifying parts of the book and seeing that words are read from left to right and top to bottom. Repetition in reading is also beneficial for fluency.
Students will also practice preposition words in relation to how the characters from the story go through various obstacles.
Students will also retell the story with the class which is another crucial reading skill that focuses on comprehension.
