Class Experience

Students will practice letter sounds.
Students will use letters to form words.
Students will observe a group of words to determine spelling or phonics relationships between them.
Students will sort words based on a particular spelling or phonics pattern.
Students will read and write words made during class.
I hold a California Teaching Credential and I have training and experience teaching phonics, spelling, and reading in a public school classroom.
OPTIONAL: To reinforce the concepts, students may complete the following homework and upload it to the classroom. The teacher will respond with a video comment.

Cut out words from the worksheet and sort them into groups based on ending sounds, beginning sounds, or other patterns. (This can be somewhat subjective and based on the child's ability.) Students should read the words aloud to a parent or sibling, and attempt to write or copy words, based on ability. I recommend spending about 10 minutes two times per week on homework.
