Let's have some fun and make our own shampoo, lotion and bubble bath. The instructor will show learners how to creat a coconut milk based shampoo that cleans and moisturizes your hair, a shea butter based lotion that softens skin as well as smells nice and a bubble bath that is colorful and bubbly. This instructor has made her own shampoo, lotion and bubble bath/bath wash for years. This is a great way to keep our environment cleaner as well. By using glass or reusable containers to make...
Students will learn how to make their own unique shampoo, body lotion and bubble bath. We will use mixing bowls and regular kitchen supplies to make a wonderful and unique bath items. Each learner can add their own unique twist to the products to create their own scent and color of their products as well.
This instructor has been making and creating her own shampoos, conditioner, body wash and lotions for several years. In an attempt to create less world waste as well as creating a product that uses less chemicals, I have learned and experimented with bath products and made my own. This is also a great way to reduce the cost of bath products. Saving money is always fun too.
No homework is assigned or required. Students will be creating shampoo, lotion and bubble baths during class.
1 file available upon enrollmentPlease note, if learners do not have the supplies on hand, join anyway. You can always purchase the ingredients at a later time. Watch the technique and receive the recipes and try them later. If learners would like to make each item along with the class, please purchase the following ingredients. For the Shampoo: 1. Mason Jar or similar container with a lid. 2. Coconut milk (the kind in a can) 3. Castille Soap (can be purchased at most markets or on Amazon) 4. Olive Oil 5. Essential oil (choose your own favorite scent. I like lavender or sandlewood) For the Bubble bath/body wash: 1. A mason jar or similar container with a lid. Plastic works great. I have even used an old shampoo container and washed it out. 2. Castille Soap. Unscented. (can be purchased at most markets or on Amazon) 3. Vegetable Glycerin (I have had the best luck purchasing online. Can find it at some co-ops also) 4. Essential oil. (choose your favorite scent. I have used peppermint, lavender, lemon etc) 5. Food coloring. I have tried neon color for the bubble bath because it's fun! Body Lotion: 1. A mason jar or similar container with a lid. I like the short, medium sized jars for this so it's easier to scoop out to use. 2. Shea Butter. The paste kind. NOT the squares that have to be melted. (I use Tree Hut brand -Shea Body Butter). This can be purchased at most stores like Walmart or Target or also online. 3. Coconut oil. 4. Vitamin E oil. (this is nice if you have it, but not necessary) 5. Essential Oil. (I like lavender for the lotion because the scent is relaxing but feel free to use another calming scent if you'd like.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will walk away with a knowledge of how to create their own shampoo, body lotion and bubble bath. Learners can either make the products alongside the instructor or watch and make their own products later on. Recipes will be given at the end of class.
