Class Experience

In this flexible-schedule, 4-week course, students will learn how to create rodents, hermit crabs, cats, and dogs with polymer clay!

A new video will be available each week which will show, step-by-step, how to make that week’s project. Video tutorials are especially effective when learning how to work with clay as learners can pause, as well as rewind and re-watch steps as many times as they need. They are also encouraged to post any questions that come up while they work in the classroom; I will respond with my advice/guidance as soon as I can!

Learners should post pictures of their work (and any comments they have about it) when they finish their project each week. This gives me and the other learners in class an opportunity to comment on, ask questions, and talk about each student's work together. I believe sharing our art with others, as well as appreciating others’ work, is an important part of the creative process! Throughout our weeks together, I hope to create a welcoming environment for students to feel comfortable to share, critique, and troubleshoot with me and the other learners in class in this way.

Week 1: Rodents - Hamsters, Guinea Pigs, Rabbits, Rats, & Mice
Week 2: Hermit Crabs & Starfish
Week 3: Cats & Mouse Toy
Week 4: Dogs & Bone
(Bonus: Food Dish for our cats and dogs)

* I strive to make sure each of my classes is appropriate for gifted learners. I offer discounts for siblings/multiple learners. If you have any other questions, please reach out to me! *

Supply List
ESSENTIALS:
· Polymer Clay: Whatever brand you prefer (Sculpey, Fimo, etc.). I use and recommend Sculpey Premo because of its high quality--however, Sculpey Souffle is also high-quality but is softer, so your learner might find it easier to work with.
· Sculpting tools: A basic set is fine. (If you don't have any tools yet, I'd recommend this well-priced set: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VDQ74BB/)
· Isopropyl Alcohol and Paper Towels (I like to cut mine into (4) squares, to conserve a bit :)) OR Baby Wipes
· Adequate working space

OPTIONAL, BUT RECOMMENDED:
· Glaze for after baking
 2 files available upon enrollment

Many of my classes here on OutSchool were inspired by a childhood obsession of mine and this one is no exception! I’ve been working with polymer clay since I was seven years old. I love tiny things, so I absolutely love making miniatures! I’m so excited to share my passion for miniatures with your learner(s)!
