Let's Make Inferences!
Students ages 6-11 will learn a catchy phrase to identify how to make inferences while reading text. Students will use their hands to make inferences while reading! This lesson aides in Reading Comprehension and questioning.

Class Experience
During this reading comprehension course, students will understand the need for inferences to be made while reading! Students will learn how to use their schema and the text to generate inferences. Students will be immersed in text while discussing our schema and the plot of the story before generating inferences. Students will be involved in discussions and problem solving activities. Students will be able to answer questions in order to identify key details. Students will be able to connect their prior knowledge to the text in order to generate inferences.
Students will be required to recite the inference phrase to a family member after the lesson. Students will also be encouraged to read independently or with a family member in order to generate inferences.
Select from the following list: 1. Post-it notes and a writing tool (marker, pencil, pen...etc.) 2. Two cleaning gloves and marker to write on the glove 3. Plain paper and a writing tool (marker, pencil, pen...etc.)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Each learner will be given feedback throughout the lesson. After questions are answered, each student/group will receive verbal meaningful feedback.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses Text.
