In this one-time class, students will take their prior understandings of Procreate and turn it up a notch! The intention of this class is for students to have a basic understanding of the Procreate app and layer on additional skills and tools for them to become more proficient in making digital portraits! **While the age range for this class is 11-15, really any intermediate level Procreate student is welcome so long as they are mature enough for the independence needed to participate in class!** In 45 minutes we will cover: >> Procreate app, usage, and organization >> Turning a photo into a detailed digital portrait >> Importing media (such as a photo) to then create a new piece of art >> Procreate tools, shortcuts, and commands >> Proper color picking for digital portraits >> The use of layers to create in-depth, detailed portraits >> Two different portrait styles: pop-art styled portraits and multi-layered flat portraits >> How to export their portrait properly to share online or with family! This is a great one-time class for learners looking to build a deeper understanding of the Procreate app to use it to create more detailed digital portraits. As mentioned, this is an intermediate level Procreate class. We will be covering some of the additional tools Procreate has to offer and students show already have a basic understanding of the tools in Procreate before enrolling. Students must have the following technology to participate in class: >> an iPad that supports the Apple Pen or Pencil >> an Apple Pen or Pencil for your iPad >> the Procreate app downloaded already on their iPad >> appropriate photos they would like to work with during class If students arrive to this class without the above materials, they will not be able to fully participate. Please make sure learners come prepared, with devices fully charged, and ready to create!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am so excited to have you checking out my Outschool profile!
My name is Maddy Fry and I cannot wait to be your Outschool teacher! I have been working as an online teacher for three years now. I have my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education, with a focus in Special Education as well, from Butler University. I have my teaching licenses for grades K-6 in Indiana and New Jersey and have over 10 years of experience with working with kids!
My teaching style is one of high-energy and high interaction with the students. I love getting students engaged with funny voices, silly questions, and movement. I focus on letting students learn on their own and supporting individual thought with corrections where needed. I love getting to watch students form their own thoughts and share their opinions in the learning opportunity!
Other passions of mine include digital creations in apps such as Procreate and online tools such as Canva! I love using both of these tools to create beautiful digital pieces of art and other personal tools such as planners and worksheets. I love teaching students how they can be digital creators as well by utilizing these tools for their own success.
I can't wait to work with your child and will see them in the classroom.
Let's get learning!

Class Policies:
1) I aim to keep classes close to the scheduled amount of time, however, classes with low enrollments or especially talkative students may run a few minutes under or a few minutes over.
2) If a class does not meet the minimum enrollment requirements, I will contact the parents and learners to confirm they want to continue class 24 hours before class is scheduled to begin. I will teach the class unless the parent or learner requests to transfer to a more-full section with the exception of camps and book clubs. Camps and book clubs must meet the minimum of three learners in order to carry forward and if, within 24 hours before the first meeting, they do not meet the minimum, the section will be canceled and the parents will receive a full refund.
3) Classes will begin at the scheduled time, even if all learners are not in the classroom (unless there appears to be a technical issue). I will not contact absent learners during class time so I can focus on the learners who are present. However, I will contact absent learners after to transfer them to another section.
4) If no learners are in the classroom, I will wait 10 minutes before exiting the classroom. In this situation, I will contact the families after I have left the classroom to transfer learners to a new section.
5) I will post the class recording to the classroom as soon as it is available to me
6) Classroom expectations are as follows:
a. Learners will remain muted the entire lesson to avoid any distracting or awkward background noises for both the learners and myself. Learners will get to share and speak in class, but will remain muted otherwise.
b. All learners are expected to be focused as much as possible for their current age. For younger learners, if they are welcomed to bring a toy or stuffed animal if that helps them remain in class. Older students are asked to not have their phones with them in class so they can focus on learning.
c. Parents and siblings are welcomed to watch the class but if siblings are going to both participate, each sibling must be enrolled in the lesson individually. Siblings cannot attend and participate in class with only one enrollment to the lesson.
d. If a student cannot appropriately behave and participate in a lesson, they will be given three warnings before being placed in the waiting room. The student will be place in the waiting room as long as the teacher best sees fit and will be readmitted to class when the teacher feels they are ready to rejoin. If behaviors are extreme enough, the parent will be contacted by the teacher and the OutSchool team will be notified as well.
