Class Experience

In this fun and delicious one time class, students will investigate in which ways matter can change. Students will learn simple scientific information about temperature changes, liquids, gases and solids. I will provide step-by-step instructions as we complete the science experiment together as a class. I will often ask learners to answer questions, share ideas, hypotheses and observations. I will provide a one page science journal for adults to print before class begins. The science journal contains our terms for the day, questions, explanations, and a chart for recording hypotheses and observations.

Learners can purchase and bring the listed supplies to class. This way they will be able to follow along and create ice cream for themselves at home. If they prefer not to purchase supplies, learners could also choose to simply observe and share.

INGREDIENTS
• 2 Tablespoons sugar
• 1 cup half and half
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
• Candy Canes
SUPPLIES
• 1 gallon freezer bag
• 2 quart freezer bags
• Ice
• 1⁄2 cup rock salt

*You can substitute ingredients. I have had learners use many different forms of milk, coconut sugar, etc. Rock salt works best but students have successfully made ice cream with table salt as well.

Hello parents and students,

I encourage learning through enthusiastic engagement. I believe children learn best through curiosity or play. Teaching online has been my passion since 2015. I was an online English teacher with VIPKID for over three years and an Outschool teacher for ever since. Over the years, I have learned how to engage with students in a virtual setting. I encourage student output and participation during class.

I have a bachelors degree in marketing and science. I am an entrepreneur and business owner. I have also been in the beauty industry for over 15 years. I am a homeschooling mother to my twin sons and my two daughters. I am constantly seeking creative ways for my children and students to learn new things.
