Watercolors are some of the most beautiful and interesting paints around. They allow for a lot of flexibility in technique and style, which allows artists to express themselves in a wide variety of ways. Did you know that you can buy colored pencils that allow you to paint with watercolors easily? In this class, we'll be exploring watercolor painting using watercolor pencils, and looking at a few different ways to use this medium. When students enroll in this class, they will be introduced to watercolor pencils and painting techniques that you can use with them. At the end of class, students will be allowed to share what they've created using watercolor pencils if they'd like to! This class is meant for beginners who have little to no experience with watercolor pencils. This one-time class will follow the loose structure outlined below: - Introductions: Learners will meet the teacher and each other, and talk about their favorite type of art to make. - Watercolor Pencil Basics: We'll dive right in, learning a few different ways to use their watercolor pencils and brushes! Learners are encouraged to ask questions about their supplies and the processes that are covered in class. - Step-by-Step Draw and Paint Along: Using our skills, we'll make a simple watercolor pencil illustration together in class. Learners will be able to choose from a few subjects and decide on one as a class. - Sharing Our Art: Learners will be given the opportunity to share their paintings with each other at the end of class! Art is all about creativity and finding a voice. As such, this class will focus on creativity alongside technique. Learners are encouraged to ask questions throughout the process.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Art is a lifelong passion, and my journey with art started in middle school. I have worked in many different media, but my favorites are sketching, drawing, and photography. I’ve been keeping sketchbooks for nearly 20 years, and they’ve helped me document my journey with art, as well as important milestones in my life. I want to help learners find their artistic passion and help them do the same.
