Description

Class Experience

In this class, students will learn how to make a bubble tea and hopefully be able to re-make this drink anytime they want. They will learn how to read and follow a recipe. They will also get a chance to practice basic kitchen skills such as using the stove.
I currently own 2 juice and smoothie businesses and have been operating for 5 years now. I also work at both locations, so I am very familiar with all areas of this space. We have done many catering events for local schools and sporting teams, so I have had so much great feedback from kids on what they like to drink.
Learners have the option to send me their drink photo and share on my Instagram account: learning.with.miss.mindy
* I will send the recipe by email 24 hours before the lesson. * Please have the following ingredients ready for class: Ingredients: - Tea in a form of a tea bag (Options are any kind of black tea, green tea or oolong tea) - Brown sugar - A can of Evaporated Milk - Fresh milk is recommended but you can use any milk substitute (Almond milk, soy milk, lactose-free milk, etc) - BOBA (Tapioca balls) It can be found at most local Asian supermarkets or you can find it on Amazon. *I recommend using the brand 'Wu Fu Yuan'. They can be made in less than 5 minutes - Ice cubes Cooking tools: - Cooking pot and lid - A measuring cup or measuring spoons (a cup and half a cup) - Strainer - 2 mixing bowls - Tasting spoon and a draining spoon/ladle - Can opener - Cup or mason jar for final drink - Thick bubble tea straw (This can also be found at the local Asian supermarket or on Amazon. Students can also eat tapioca with a spoon if they can't find a straw) **Don't forget your smartphone! We will use our phone cameras to take pictures of our drinks. *** Having an Instagram account is optional, not a must
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please note that we will be using a stove to boil the tapioca balls and making the syrup. I will be giving them clear instructions on how to do everything but parent supervision is recommended if learners are not familiar on how to use the stove.

Also, please note that BOBA is made mainly with tapioca starch so make sure there are no allergies or sensitivities to this ingredient. We will also be making the drink with tea so there will be some caffeine in it.
