25 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this class students will learn the basic components it takes in order for a tornado to form. They will also learn a hands-on science craft that allows them to make their own tornado at home using only a few simple ingredients. The materials used to make the jar tornado are comparable to those required for a natural tornado to form. This will aid children in comprehending how and why tornadoes arise. The workshop will begin with the components needed to create a tornado. We'll use what we've learned about tornado formation to create a tornado in a jar! Each item in the jar will represent an event that must occur in order for tornadoes to develop. After we create our tornadoes students will have a chance for a Q&A at the end! Being a storm chaser I have found out students love asking me questions about tornadoes and other storms I have seen. This is a great time for the class to bond together and learn more about weather! There will be a one slide presentation at the beginning explaining the formation of natural tornadoes and then I will be creating a tornado with the students so they can follow along with me on each step. There is no required experience or knowledge necessary for this class!
Learning Goals
Students will learn a basic understanding on how tornadoes form as well as safety precautions needed for when a tornado occurs in your backyard.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Parents and students, welcome!
Do you want to get your kids passionate about science and English in a fun and engaging way? If that's the case, you've come to the correct place! I teach a variety of subjects ranging from weather, Book Clubs, and just about everything in between!
I've always loved science, ever since I was a tiny girl! As I've gotten older, my excitement has only grown. I'd love to share my passion with others!
I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Meteorology and Broadcasting/ Journalism from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Mathematics is one of my minors.
I just graduated MSU Denver with a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. I am a 4th and 3rd grade teacher but I love all grades!
With teaching I believe students learn the best from hands on experiments and worksheets to follow along! Making subjects fun is the most important thing to me! All homework in my class will be OPTIONAL!
