Want to learn how to edit in iMovie but don't know where to start? Want to show off your amazing family members or friend group and all the fun things you do together? You can do both by taking this class! In this class, students will learn the basics of how to edit in iMovie by using their own family/friend photos and videos. They will create a short video (2-4mins) long to showcase their whole family (or their group of friends)! The video will have different photo slide shows and videos. They will have music as well as a voice-over recorded by the students themselves telling us about their family. Students will learn: -How to create a new project -How to import and organize footage -How to crop and add footage to the timeline -How to trim and rearrange clips -How to organize the timeline -How to tweak zoom in effects for photos -How to record a voice over -How to edit audio and add music -How to polish and export This will be a fun filled class packed with lots of information. Students must be ready to learn and work hard on their videos. Class requirements: Each student will get to choose between either making a video about their family or their friends. Depending on their choice, they must collect together a set of photos/videos before the class starts! For the family video, student must gather up photos/videos of the following: -Photos of themselves, parents, siblings, grandparents etc. (a few photos for each person) -Photos of family outings, vacations, camping, fishing, road trips, theme parks, beach visit etc. (a few photos for each event) -Photos of family activities such as get-together, birthday parties, playing at the park, eating out etc. (a few photos for each event) For the friends video, student must gather up photos/videos of the following: --Photos of themselves, and their friends individually (a few photos for each person) --Photos of the friends together, either the whole group of parts of it --Photos of the student and friends doing activities together such as: birthday party, going to conventions, playing video games etc. -Mac and iMovie Students should have a total of around 20-40 photos. It's optional to have some videos as well. Before class starts, please select out the photos you want to use and put them into a folder where you can find them or save into a specific album in your Photos app. Since we will be covering a lot of features in iMovie, you will not have time to browse through hundreds of photos to find the perfect one. (If you prefer not to use your own family photos and just want some photos to practice, I will be providing some creative commons photos for you to use. Please let me know ahead of time and I will send you the link for the download.) During the actual class, I will be demonstrating the different features of iMovie as I build out exactly what you need to do in order to create a video/slide-show all about your family. Each student is expected to follow along. I will take regular pauses in between the demonstration to answer any questions you might have regarding iMovie. At the end, every student that wants to will be able to show off their video to the rest of the class. And I will be giving suggestions on how to further improve the video at home.
