Class Experience

Students will learn to make a spider web and spider using yarn, pipe cleaner, and wooden craft dowles. I will be making the project step by step along with kids while leading a guided discussion of what they like about Haloween. I know that all kids work at their own pace so this will keep students from being bored if they are ready to move on before the rest of the class is. If students need more time they are always welcome to finish after class and watch the video to help them.

Discussion question may include:
Do you like spiders?
What is your favorite thing about Halloween?
What is your all-time favorite Halloween costume?
Are you dressing up this year? If so as what?
What did you dress up as last year?
What is the scariest kind of monster you can think of?

Like all of my classes, this is an inclusive class, which means that students of all abilities are welcome, if your student needs any accommodations please let me know and we will work together to ensure they have the best experience possible.

Teacher expertise and credentials
My name is Gabrielle, I started teaching sewing lessons when I was a homeschool senior. I taught classes at a local home school group and discovered I had a passion for teaching. When I was 19 I discovered I was most likely autistic and was able to get an official diagnosis at 21. For me, this was a revelation and explained so much. It meant I was able to seek out others like me and was a huge game-changer for me.

For over 10 years now I have been teaching in different capacities and working with children with different disabilities and differences. I have been an in-home caregiver for a physically disabled child, a preschool teacher, a teacher's aid, a tutor and have been teaching online since January 2020. I also have an Associates' degree in special education.

I am proud to be autistic. This doesn't mean I don't have struggles but I firmly believe that we all have strengths and weaknesses. I strive to give all of my students a safe and welcoming place. All of my classes are inclusive which means students of all abilities are welcome. If your student needs any accommodations please let me know and we will work together to ensure the best possible class experience.
