Who wants to be a Shoe Sheriff? In this one-on-one class, the learner will learn one way to tie their shoes to earn the title of Shoe Sheriff. A parent's presence during this lesson will help the learner practice with success and keep YOU, the parent, involved! This lesson will be a step by step lesson with the teacher modeling the steps first. Then, the learner will practice with the support of the teacher and the parent. Last, the learner will practice on their own. Shoe tying can be a challenge for young people, but with practice they can become a Shoe Sheriff! Shoe tying is a skill that children will master over time. A downloadable shoe tying practice log will be attached to the lesson to help your Shoe Sheriff keep up with their shoe tying practice.
Learning Goals
Students will learn one way to tie their shoes.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
A Shoe Sheriff will need to practice shoe tying while a parent is right there beside them for support. I can't wait to see you in class with your future Shoe Sheriff!
Supply List
Students will need one shoe with a shoelace already in it. I recommend having the flat, cotton laces in the shoe and not the round shoelaces. The flat shoe laces work better with small fingers! The shoe will be used during the lesson so it should be kept in front of them and not on their foot. The shoe tying log and Shoe Sheriff certificate is not needed for this lesson.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Sources
You will be given a downloadable document with the shoe tying log and a Shoe Sheriff certificate.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Mrs. Shore and I taught first grade in a public school for 22 years. I have my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education (1st-6th), with a kindergarten endorsement, from Ball State University in Indiana and my Masters in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University.
I love teaching interactive and engaging classes that get my students involved with the lesson. Learning is meant to be shared, so my goal at the end of every lesson is for the student to tell me (or someone else) something they learned from the lesson.
I love to teach animal science with my 'Seahorse Facts for Kids' class. I offer a 'Basic Subtraction' math class and a shoe tying class! I also enjoy tutoring students one-on-one with their math skills.
I am married to my husband of 15 years and we have four cats. Sometimes they like to make an appearance during my lessons! I enjoy exercising, strength training, and camping. I love to travel and mountain bike. Being outdoors makes me happy!
