***Use code BYRDCDISCOUNT20 to try this class for free!*** In this ongoing beginning reading class, we will see and hear a short story from which students will identify words in our word family. Then we will practice saying sounds together, sounding out words on my screen with the help of picture clues, and playing games to look for pictures and determine which pictures belong in our word family and which ones do not! We will also write missing sounds together to make words on our printout. But do not worry if you are unable to get this worksheet printed out, you can do this activity with us on any sheet of paper (or even write the letters in the air). This class is ideal for learners who are not yet reading but are showing interest and those students who have learned some sounds and possibly some beginning reading skills but need to continue to build a strong foundation for reading. Because this is an ongoing class, students may jump in at any point and they will not be behind! This class is on an 18-week content cycle, meaning that from the point your child jumps in, they will get 18 weeks of new content and then I will start the content cycle again. Many of my parents let their learners repeat the cycle if more practice is needed to strengthen their reading foundation. Similarly, some parents choose to enroll their child in more than one section per week so their child can learn more than one word family per week-this all depends on your child's learning level and needs. For most learners, one word family per week is just right. I always try to accommodate transfer requests, but my classes are not on the same lesson each week so please be aware if you request a transfer into another section, that section will most likely not be on the same schedule and there is a chance your child will repeat a lesson. If you would like this class as a FLEXible schedule option, use this link: https://outschool.com/classes/lets-learn-to-read-blend-and-read-cvc-words-in-word-families-flex-naCkNRxG?usid=Khh0xOrD&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link *I have written and/or created and own the copyrights to all materials including printables, game sheets, stories, and slide shows used in all of my classes. This class is great for ESL learners as well! NOTE: Not all sections are on the same schedule, so this schedule may be slightly different depending on which section your learner joins. Your learner can jump in at any time and will have 18 weeks of new content no matter when they join. However, transferring your student to a different section COULD cause your learner to repeat content as, again, not all sections are on the same lesson. At this age and stage of learning to read, repetition is very important so this has never been an issue:) Week of January 30th: at words Week of February 6th: op words Week of February 13th: ap words Week of February 20th: un words Week of February 27th: et words Week of March 6th: og words Week of March 13th: am words Week of March 20th: ig words Week of March 27th: ed words Week of April 3rd: en words Week of April 10th: an words Week of April 17th: ad words Week of April 24th: it words Week of May 1st: ut words Week of May 8th: id words Week of May 15th:um words Week of May 22nd: ag words AFTER the week of May 22nd, the content repeats the above cycle! ______________________________ beginning reading, kindergarten, preschool, first grade, second grade, phonics, CVC, CVCe, blending, reading, writing, fluency

Hello! I am so happy to be here and tell you a little about myself. I have been a certified teacher and reading specialist for over two decades and greatly enjoy creating and teaching courses that are fun for the students, packed with value, and super engaging! I am a kind and encouraging teacher, and I love to acknowledge every success in the classroom-big and small! I have created the following curriculum with your learner in mind! For preschoolers just beginning to learn letters and sounds, I recommend starting with my PreK course that covers not only reading, but also math, science, and social studies content. For those students who do not need an entire Pre-K course or those that know letters and sounds and are ready to begin reading CVC words, I recommend taking my ongoing classes in the following order starting with the first class (Feel free to copy and paste or scroll down past this profile to go directly to the class links). For those learners who know most CVC words or can easily sound those words out, I recommend beginning with the second class.
1. Pre-K & Kinder: Complete Curriculum & Circle Time (Meets 4 Times per Week). This is an ongoing, YEAR-ROUND course where we will cover all standards for PreK and most Kinder standards as well. Your learner can jump in at any time and not be behind.

8. 2nd Grade Reading Comprehension: This class is for students in first grade who are strong readers, students on second-grade reading level, or students in third grade who may need a little extra help. This class focuses heavily on comprehension, so if your child needs fluency practice, see my previous three classes on this list! This is an ongoing class that meets once per week covering the five big comprehension skills (direct recall, inferences/predictions, unfamiliar vocabulary using context clues, main idea and details, and sequencing) using second-grade fiction and nonfiction passages.

9. Reading Fluency: Fun Timed Reading Challenges With 3rd Grade Passages. This class is ideal for students who are reading at a higher 2nd-grade level or a lower 3rd-grade level, or those who have taken my first fluency class using first and second-grade passages.
