Class Experience

This class will be a hands-on, enjoyable experience learning the very basics of piano. It will be interactive, and each student will be given time to play and practice as we go through class. My teaching style for this age is very fun, happy, and encouraging to the students as they discover the joy of learning piano. I love to sing and play short songs and notes as we learn and grow together. Each student will be given one on one moments to practice the skills they are learning, and receive encouragement. As a group, we will practice learning rhythm and volume and even learn how to play some new song! After class I will send a pdf of some of the songs and exercises we discussed so the student can continue to practice and learn on their own.
Please make sure to have a piano or keyboard ready to use during class.
Learning Goals
This course will be a fun and exciting introduction to the piano. Students will learn the numbers associated with each finger, the location of Middle C, and how the keyboard is organized (black and white keys). We will learn basic rhythm, first by clapping our hands, then by playing notes on the keyboard. We will learn the difference between and quarter note and a half note. We will also learn how to play different volumes (piano and forte). By then end of class, each student will learn the proper starting hand position and will be able to play a simple song on their own. Throughout the class we will play learning games to reinforce the knowledge that is acquired and to help each student have fun and enjoy learning the piano.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am Mr. Alan!

Since I first started banging on the piano as a toddler and singing at the top of my lungs, I have always loved music. The first chance I got, I started taking private piano lessons and continued those all the way to college. Anytime there was a chance in school to be involved in something musical, from marching band or jazz band, to theater and chorus, I wanted to be a part of it.
It is my goal as a piano and music teacher to help each student find the same love of all things music that I have always had, and be able to enjoy and use their knowledge of music the rest of their life.

I live in Tennessee with my beautiful wife, my fun and energetic 7 year old daughter, my crazy Halloween-loving 3 year old son, and my sweet and cuddly newborn son who all love to sing and have glowstick dance parties together. :)

I am thankful that you have considered me as a piano teacher for your child, and I can't wait to be their teacher!
