Learning the fundamentals of reading and writing can be challenging at any age! If your student is only beginning to read or has special needs and requires practice, this course is a perfect addition to their daily learning. Together we will look at letters, repetitively, practicing their names and sounds. We will talk about words that have the letters and sounds in them and what they mean when we read. We will use flashcards, writing on paper, and super positive reinforcement to help your student learn and thrive! I will not be looking for perfect handwriting, only that your student can replicate the letter, helping cement the shape of it in their big, beautiful brains! By the end of our course your student's letter name and sound recognition should increase significantly.

Hello! My name is Ms. Wendy and I am excited to get to know you and learn with your students!
My classes are focused on the very basics of reading: Letter recognition and sounds. Every letter has a name and a sound, together we will learn all 26. For more advanced readers, I have several reading clubs where I read aloud and we discuss comprehension and vocabulary!
I have an Associates Degree and utilized that to work in an elementary school setting. I have been a Special Education assistant in a public school for the past 4 years, teaching basic reading skills to children grades K-5. My students learn 1 on 1, in small groups, or in a class setting with me by their side to guide them. I still teach currently and will use the skills and ideas I use everyday to bring the learning to you here!
I have wanted to teach since I was very little. I feel like I connect with children when we are having fun and learning, it brings me so much joy to watch a student learn and progress.
Besides being a teacher, I am the mother of one very cool 9 year old and 3 very naughty kitties. I love taking care of my houseplants and listening to music in my spare time, if I have any. My favorite color is blue and my favorite number is 3.Reviews
