Spanish for Beginners: 5-Week Summer Course (Part 1)
In this 5-week Spanish language course, students will improve their vocabulary, conversation, reading, and writing skills. Topics include: alphabet, greetings, numbers 1-100, colors, and zoo animals! Led by a certified Spanish teacher.

Class Experience
This class is taught in Spanish.
In just five classes, students will be able to converse using simple Spanish phrases, and identify and use a variety of foundational Spanish vocabulary.
**KIMBERLY KNAPP** Kimberly is a fun, energetic Spanish teacher from Calgary, Canada who now calls Oaxaca, Mexico "home." She has over 10 years of experience teaching languages to students of all ages, from around the world. Kimberly holds a B.A. in French & Spanish, a minor in Linguistics, a B.A. in Pedagogy, and a TESOL certification. She is a very patient teacher who loves creating exciting activities that encourage student interaction, communication, and expression. Kimberly loves connecting with her students, learning about their cultures, and sharing her own rich cultural background. ———————————————————— **MONICA FERNANDEZ** Monica is a certified Spanish language teacher who lives in Florida, and is originally from Spain. She has a true passion for teaching Spanish language and culture and has over 15 years of experience teaching students of all ages, as well as 11 years dedicated to working as a bilingual preschool teacher. Monica has a bachelor's degree from Universidad de Oviedo and holds early childhood education and director credentials as well. In her free time, Monica loves spending time with her family, watching her sons play competitive soccer, and learning about other countries and cultures. ———————————————————— **GAIL ENCERRADO** Gail is a highly skilled teacher from El Paso, Texas who is bilingual in English and Spanish. With over 20 years of experience teaching in-person and online, Gail has developed a passion for teaching English and Spanish language, literacy, and math classes through high-interest activities, like: cooking, baking, crafts, and life skills focused classes. Gail holds a B.A. in Linguistics from University of Texas, a TESOL certification, and is currently pursuing an M.A. in Education. She is experienced in teaching students of all ages, and has worked extensively with children with autism. Her teaching philosophy focuses on developing strong student rapport and personalized learning experiences to maximize student achievement. —————————————————— **BRENDA MELENDEZ** Brenda is an enthusiastic, licensed teacher from Maryland who is bilingual in English and Spanish. She has had more than 20 years of experience teaching language arts, math, social studies, science, ESL, and Spanish to K-12 students in-person and online. Brenda holds a B.A. in Foreign Service and an M.Ed. in Secondary Education - both from George Washington University. She brings great energy into her classroom and enjoys incorporating interactive, creative activities into her lessons to maximize student engagement. Her ultimate goal is to create a sensory rich, welcoming environment that motivates her students to grow.
Practice, practice, practice! After each class, the teacher will share class notes and handouts in the classroom. Please print and study them if time allows.
*Bring a notebook, pencils/pens/markers to each class* Class #5: - white paper - newspaper (to cover table) - water dish - paintbrushes (any size) - tempera or watercolor paints (red, yellow, blue, orange, green, purple)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
