Description
Class Experience
In this class, we will practice words with the short /a/ sound in the medial position like [bag], [cat], [dad], [fan], [hat], [map], [ram], [sat], and [van]. There will be a quick review of the /a/ sound at the beginning class. Then, learners will be shown a picture and we will orally say each sound in the word. Next, learners will be encouraged to say each sound while I show each letter on the screen. Last, students will say the sound of each letter in the word and write it on their own,...
Learners will increase their knowledge of letter sounds, both orally and in print, and practice putting the sounds together to make words. Learners will also improve their fine motor skills through writing the letters in each word and drawing the accompanying picture.
No homework is required but reading the words the learner wrote during class with your child is recommended to increase fluency.
Learners are requested to have several sheets, or half sheets, of paper and a writing instrument of their choice like pencil or marker.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
