Do you love Science? In this Ongoing Class, learners will explore a range of Science subjects in a fun and interactive way. This course aims to provide meaningful learning experiences for young explorers. Each class will include a range of teaching methods and activities that are designed to engage the learners in both a hands-on and minds-on way. Classes will include experiments, Q&A, quizzes, games, worksheets, videos and much more. Some classes will include breakout rooms. Learners will be encouraged to observe, explore, question and share what they learn. A variety of methods are used to support learners and cater for different learning styles and needs. Week of 1/4/24 - What is Environmental Science? - study of the environment and human impact Week of 8/4/24 - What is Environmental Science? - basic environmental concepts, such as ecosystems, biodiversity, and sustainability Week of 15/4/24 - What is Environmental Science? - Nature walk or outdoor exploration to observe and appreciate local ecosystems Week of 22/4/24 - Ecosystems and Biodiversity - human activities affecting the environment, such as pollution, deforestation, and habitat destruction Week of 29/4/24 - Ecosystems and Biodiversity - concept of ecological footprint and its implications Week of 6/5/24 - Ecosystems and Biodiversity - Biodiversity survey activity: identifying and documenting plant and animal species in a local habitat Week of 13/5/24 - Human Impact on the Environment - Environmental impact assessment project: analyzing the environmental impact of a local development project Week of 20/5/24 - Human Impact on the Environment - erosion, deposition, and coastal sediment transport. Week of 27/5/24 - Human Impact on the Environment - virtual tour to a local coastline to observe coastal processes firsthand.
