Beginner Level
In this engaging and interactive class, students will dive into the world of music and learn the essential skills to read rhythm notation on sheet music. We will explore the concept of rhythm and its importance in music. Using lecture, video clips, games, and discussion, students will learn note values and their corresponding duration, develop the ability to count and clap various rhythmic patterns, and gain confidence in their musical abilities. We will explore various rhythmic patterns and develop a solid foundation for beginning to read musical notation. This knowledge is vital for every musician, whether they're learning to play the drums, piano, or any other instrument, including voice.
Learning Goals
In this class, students will learn concepts that are necessary for understanding the rhythmic part of music notation, including measures, bar lines, time signatures, and the following note durations: whole, half, quarter, eighth, and sixteenth in regular and dotted form, as well as triplets.
