Class Experience

Annyeonghasaeyo! (Hello!) Have you ever wanted to dance like your favorite K-Pop idols? Together we can learn BTS' song 'GoGo'!
For the most part this class is beginner friendly, however may require a little co-ordination (please refer to the class video). Nevertheless, it's a super fun dance, so the moves don't have to be perfect!

Class plan:
First things first, we’ll quickly go over class rules and get to know each other a little. While we’re at it, let’s share our K-Pop favorites…but let’s not get too distracted, we have a dance to learn!
Before we begin, we’ll start up with a quick K-Pop warm up and then watch the choreography together to familiarize ourselves with the dance. (If you happen to also watch the choreography ahead of class, it’s best to watch the mirrored version!)
When teaching, I will break the chorus into 8’s and slowly explain the moves in sections. After walking through each section, we’ll do it with music, starting with around 60% speed and we’ll gradually increase it. Remember, practice makes perfect, so prepare to be repeating the same thing a lot! Essentially, that’s how the class goes, alongside taking some quick breaks and question opportunities in between.
At the end we will do some quick cool down stretches. This class primarily focuses on learning the moves but may need additional practice after class to fully grasp the entire dance.

The real goal of this class is to have fun! If you don’t grasp something immediately, don’t give up! It takes time and practice.

Learning Goals

Students will learn how to co-ordinate dance movements and how to express themselves through dance.

Parental Guidance
Due to this being a movement class, please ensure your child has an open space to dance in (6ft x 6ft) and ensure there are no objects nearby for potential collisions. Students must wear appropriate attire and footwear for dancing. Please also have water available to drink as needed throughout the class. The class will feature a 3-4 minute stretching/low intensity warm up and stretching cool down, however additional stretching prior/after the class is also encouraged based on the individual's personal needs. Although unlikely, injuries may occur if students do not have enough open space, adequate stretching, or parental supervision during class. In addition, since this class is performance based, it is preferable that students have their cameras on to evaluate progress.

Hi there~ My name is Hannah. I'd love for you to join me in my classes whether it be dancing, art or culture!

I primarily teach dance and have more than 20 years of dance experience. I specialize in street/hip-hop dance but I have also explored jazz, contemporary, ballet and tap dance. I have been a K-Pop cover dancer for over 4 years (and been a K-Pop fan for even longer) I've taught K-Pop dance classes for over 7 years for a K-Pop dance club that I co-founded where I've taught kids, teens and adults. Throughout this time, I have co-ordinated performances and performed in many UK National K-Pop competitions and events. I have also participated in various workshops taught by professional Korean choreographers that have worked in the K-Pop industry.

In regards to my dance teaching, I try to break everything down as simply as possible to make the choreography more digestible. The primary goal is to have fun and express yourself. As a bonus, you can listen to my mediocre singing as I explain the moves. As for my other classes, my goal is to keep things fun whilst still learning something valuable. I like to encourage creativity and open-mindedness from my students.

I graduated with a BA in Film and Media from University of South Wales where I specialized in video editing, cinematography and documentaries. I certainly enjoy being creative, and try to implement this into my class planning.

A little more about me, I'm from Wales in the UK. I have a lot of hobbies that include learning languages (French, Mandarin, Korean, British Sign Language), playing piano and ukulele, baking, 3D animation, reading, arts & crafts, playing video games and the list goes on!

Please let me know if you have any lesson requests that seem relevant to my expertise or would like adjustments to my existing lessons. I try to be flexible with my time, so please let me know if there is a preferable time that suits you!
