Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 6
This Introduction to Cursive Writing for Kids class is designed to teach children the art of writing in cursive. This engaging and interactive course aims to develop your learner's fine motor skills, enhance their handwriting abilities, and provide them with a valuable lifelong skill.

Throughout the course, I will guide students through a step-by-step process, starting with the basics of cursive letter formation and gradually progressing to more complex words and sentences. Students will learn proper hand positioning, stroke techniques, and the correct way to connect letters to create fluid and legible cursive writing.

We will focus on learning:
- Letter Formation: Students will learn how to form each cursive letter accurately, paying attention to stroke order and direction.
- Connecting Letters: Students will practice joining letters together to create words and sentences, ensuring smooth transitions between each letter.
- Consistency and Legibility: Emphasis will be placed on maintaining consistent letter size, slant, and spacing, resulting in clear and readable cursive writing.
- Speed and Fluency: As students gain confidence, they will work on increasing their writing speed while maintaining legibility and fluidity.
- Personal Style: While adhering to the fundamentals of cursive writing, students will have the opportunity to develop their own unique style and flair.

How will each class be set up?
3-5 minutes - Welcome and get to know each other; writing warm-ups with different types of lines
15-20 minutes - Introduce the letters for the class and practice together - I will present my screen and show students how to write each letter using a document camera and/or a whiteboard
1-2 minutes - Show off our work and say our goodbyes

Who Should Attend:
This class is suitable for children aged 6-18 years who have basic knowledge of print handwriting and are eager to learn cursive writing. No prior experience in cursive writing is required.

Materials Required:
- Cursive writing practice booklet (recommended as students can look back to see their letter formation progress), ruled paper or notebooks for practice, or a whiteboard
- Pencils or pens suitable for cursive writing or a whiteboard marker

By the end of the Let's Learn Cursive Writing class, students will have gained the skills and confidence to write in cursive effectively. They will be equipped with a valuable tool that can be applied in various academic and personal contexts.
